I Love You Simply

Image by Kenya Aguirre from Pixabay
I love you simply
Without adornment or pretense
Created by life’s randomness
Deep, lasting and intense
Content in our present tense
Unbothered by future tests
Our love will stand time’s decay
Eternity and infinity our love; living space

Create in you my new heart
Understanding and compassion
Seeking, trusting even when apart
Jealous attraction’s destruction
Clear eyed gazes look to horizon
Day’s end or evening’s begin
All the time between our affection.

I love you in the simplest of ways
A smile, a wave
Good morning, my love, good night to the same
A door held open, a heart held true
Gestures small, nothing grand
Just your hand in my hand
Waking to see you, going to bed the same
The only name these lips touch

Simple love
Simply true
Three simple words
I love you
I love you, simply.
