Juanita looked around suitably impressed. Maria’s furniture was very well put together and you could tell some real thought had been put into what should go where and what matches with what.
“Your place looks really good. Did you decorate it yourself?”
“Yes, though I move things around from time to time. I’m really glad you like it,” said Maria. She beamed.
“Are you hungry?” asked Juanita.
“I could eat.”
Juanita smiled but said nothing.
“Are you good with Chinese food?”
“Meh. How about something a little more exotic?”
“Plutonian?”
“What?”
“Nevermind. What were you thinking?”
“I don’t know. Surprise me.”
“Chinese.”
“Haha. No.”
“How are you with spice?”
“Chica. Seriously? I’m good with spice.”
“Aight. I got something.”
“Am I going to be able to feel my tongue after?”
“Oh yeah. I wouldn’t damage that.”
Juanita leaned in to give Maria a kiss.
“Mmmm. I like that appetizer.”
“We could skip dinner all together -“
“Oh no. I want a full date. You’re not getting into my panties that easy.”
“You call this easy?” laughed Juanita.
“I wouldn’t call it hard,” said Maria.
“True enough,” agreed Juanita. “So let me order this food. While I’m ordering you can pick out something for us to watch.”
“Okay. I’ll pick something out on NetMovies. You like action movies, right? Let me see what they have on here.”
Juanita walked into the living room and sat next to Maria on the couch.
“What about Die Soft?” asked Maria.
“Nah, that’s a Christmas movie.”
“Really? It doesn’t look like a Christmas movie.”
“Yeah, I saw it in the theaters when it came out in December. Believe me they’ll be showing that in front of the yule log on TVs for years. Blowing up the Christmas turkey and yelling ‘Yippee Ki Yeah!’ from horseback. Total cheese Christmas movie. Let’s see if there’s anything newer on here.”
“What about Blonde Legal Eagle?”
“That the one about the attorney that tries to save the eagles in the rainforest and has all those blonde jokes?”
“Yup,” said Juanita.
