Their waiter soon appeared with the rest of Juanita’s meal.
“Would you like another glass of wine?” he asked.
“Yes, please. Though that will be my last, I’m driving,” said Maria.
“I could drive you,” offered Juanita.
“That’s sweet but no. I’m not sure I’m ready to ride with you yet,” said Maria.
“I didn’t bring my bike,” said Juanita.
“I know,” said Maria and smiled. She finished the wine in her glass.
The waiter stepped away from the table. Date nights meant a good tip if things went well. He was expecting a good tip tonight. Smiling, he walked away.
“So ladies, may I get you a coffee or dessert?” asked their waiter.
“No, thank you. I’m stuffed,” said Maria.
“Couldn’t eat another bite?” asked Juanita with a smile as she leaned on the table with her head on her folded hands.
“Not at the restaurant,” replied Maria, smiling back.
“I’ll bring the check,” said the waiter.
“This was really fun. Thank you,” said Maria.
“Is the evening ending?” asked Juanita. She arched a shapely eyebrow and took Maria’s hand in hers.
Maria left her hand in Juanita’s.
“I’m afraid so. Early meeting tomorrow.”
“I didn’t know salon’s had early meetings?”
“Salons, no. Banks, yes. I can not afford to be late to a meeting with the bank, even if it is for some incredibly hot motorcycle chick.”
“Incredibly hot huh?”
“Definitely. I mean I’ve seen her when she’s just out getting coffee. She’s looking good even then.”
“Of course I do. You never know who you might meet going out for coffee.”
“Oh? So, you go to coffee shops looking to pick up unsuspecting women, do you?”
“Not exclusively coffee shops.”
“Do tell.”
Juanita leaned in close and softly said “If I see a beautiful woman, well dressed, attractive, with her shit together, I’ll go up to her anywhere.” She let her hand lightly brush up her arm. “And if I really like her, I’ll do anything, anywhere … any time.”
She held Maria’s gaze then leaned back.
“Are you ready to go? I wouldn’t want you to be late for your meeting.”
Well damn, thought Maria.
“Well damn,” said Maria, surprised that the words in her head had come out of her mouth.
“I really do have to go but I am free later this week.”
“Tomorrow evening?”
“Damn. No. Saturday?”
“I can wait until then,” she leaned in and pressed her lips against Maria’s, her tongue just barely touching her lips, tracing their contour, “Maybe.”
Just then the waiter came by with the check.
“I trust everything was to your satisfaction?”
“Everything was wonderful,” said Maria.
“I can take care of the check,” said Juanita.
