It sits on a shelf
A jar
Filled with feelings
Left over from when I loved
It sits next to
A jar
Filled with tears
Left over from when I loved
It sits with the lid sealed tight
A jar
Filled with love & hate.
This is a quadrille from a prompt on dVerse. “Let your muse out of the jar, and scribble us a poem of precisely 44 words, not counting the title, and using some form of the word jar.”
I hope you enjoy!
Few words can say a great deal, just like love and hate can.

An interesting write. We do tend to keep our feelings bottled up. Is there a time to let them out of the old jar and to add a new jar? Maybe…

I think new jars are added all the time. Do we add more from one to another or maybe take them off the shelf and share with others? Glad you enjoyed.

Oh my, this is interesting. I wonder if the feelings are bottled up or just where they need to be right now.

Maybe bottled up is where they should be. Though they can’t stay that way all the time or they’ll explode … and mess up your shelf. 😁 Thank you for reading.

love can hurt the jar of tears a reminder of the pain. It’s said love overcomes hate. I guess time will tell.

I guess it depends on which jar you open and how much of the contents you consume. Thank you for reading!

An intriguing poem. I like the way you combined love and hate. Nicely done.

Love and hate do seem to come in equal measure sometimes, don’t they? Perhaps the shelf is where it belongs, for now…

Sometimes taking some time to let our emotions both love and hate settle gives us time to see them for what they are. Perhaps they’re not as strong as when first stirred.
I’m glad you enjoyed my poem.
