The ability to do work
Work
An activity involving effort to achieve a purpose or result
Purpose 
The reason something exist or is done
Power
The ability to do an activity for the reason you exist

I give to you my power
Some say they would die for you
They would rather not live
Others would live for you
Yet do nothing with the life they have with you

I give you my power
My ability to do
To live or die
The reason I exist
Is you
My power

  4. I really like the last four lines of your poem, where another is the source of power, much like a muse is for a poet, in the narrator’s life. This is a very nice poem to read. Thank you.

  6. Stew, it feels like the first stanza is stream of consciousness and the next two are distilling ideas down to a resolution. It’s a good format, and pledging one’s life to “one” which could be a person, an ideal, a higher power, etc. which effects purpose. Thoughtful and powerful writing to the prompt.

    1. Thank you Li! Yes I agree, it’s a definition that gives meaning to the giving of power. And also I like that the poem gives the pledging of power that can mean different things, like you said. A person or ideal or to power itself.
