Setbacks? What are these?
Just steps towards the future unseen
Good or bad?
Not for me to judge
I just continue to step on the stone in front of me
Life hands you lemons
I thank her and move on
No time to make lemonade or meringue a pie
I’ll put them in my pocket perhaps to trade
For a cup of sugar and water on a hot day
Fallen and can’t get up
I’ll crawl to my destination
Or perhaps it’s time for a nap
Just because I’ve fallen
Doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy where I’m at
Life has you down?
Then time to rise up!
I’ll go under thank you
But good luck
Poor me,
Unfortunately so
But richer am I than the other fellow.

And if you can’t rise up, go under … or take a nap. 😁

Indeed… sometimes the best way of coping is just to go on.

True. No time to wallow when you got stuff to do. Though sometimes you do have to sit down and just let things be. Thanks for the read!

And love that line about exchanging lemons for sugar.

I enjoyed the lightness of your poem, Shaun, no woe is me, especially in these lines:
‘Life hands you lemons
I thank her and move on
No time to make lemonade or meringue a pie’.

Thank you Kim. I’d say no time for pity but I do pity but I can do pity and keep stepping. lol (You should see the things I can do while I chew gum! 😉😂)

This reminds me of videos where people accidentally fall down, roll with it and jump up again with a ta-da!

Stew, I like the comfort you have found in your way. I like the top quote. Sometimes it is all you *can* do. For me the letting go is terrifying, but sometimes you have to acknowledge you’ve gotten as far as you can and have to. I’ve hated those times with a passion, but somehow it worked out.

Not every way is for every one or heck even every situation. It is true though sometimes the best thing is to just keep going. Sometimes you’re just getting through until the dawn and then other times you’re just getting farther from the mess. It takes courage to let go and move forward.
