I’m not mad
Just disappointed
Like losing a friend
Who had been with your through thick and thin
A brother of sorts
Who had fought beside you
In public and private wars
Not mad enough to spit nails
Just enough to turn away
When offered a whiskey or ale
I’d build a bridge
Pay for all the parts
Watch as you burn it down
And I’d walk away without a thought
I’m not mad
Though a bit confused
Why you’d follow madness
And cheer abuse
Not like the brother love
That before we knew
I can’t say you were tricked or bamboozled
You knew the harm
You’d seen it before
So I’m not mad
Not even ticked
Not angry like when a tyrant tried to overthrow
Or even upset when lost gold
Not scared mad
As if two towers fell down
No I’m just
Disappointed
Patiently waiting for
A new head to take the crown
This is for a dVerse prompt: to use negation in poetry. I hope you enjoy! 😊
Believe me. The whole world is just waiting.
