Writer’s Block Carving

Within this stone lay my imagination
Upon this blank page I will spill my blood
Chisel and hammer I hold
The pen no longer my fingers splayed
I look within to find the heart; my own and the stone’s
This block of writers’ my hesitation

I type in furious frenzy
The first edge goes, the stone takes shape
Aha! Aho! Ahee! The words they flow
Chink! Crack! Crash! Layer by layer they fall
Rough draft in my hand
Chisel in my hand, the shape forms in me

Polished stone watered and wet
Edit and cut, thinning the verbose
Let it dry, then polish again
Let the words sit, marinate in their stew
Sanded, polished, and poised - statuesque regality
One last check, then send it out; the story done and set

This is for a dVerse prompt: Using the above poems as examples, I want you to write a poem featuring, if not centering, on rock or stone. I chose to use stone as medium to create mirrored by using writing to create. I hope you enjoy! 😊
