Smiling on the Inside

This feeling of joy trapped inside like a xenolith within my dread. I listen with half an ear to the ramblings of strangers I sometimes call friends. Yet within, this joy, small, near insignificant, grows.

Your smile, my joy,
Ignites a small flame
Love?

This is for a dVerse prompt: Write a poem of exactly 44 words in response to the prompt. Your poem must contain the word xenolith. I hope you enjoy! 😊
