The garden house
At the end of the yard
On the property
Owned by the Schiele’s
I spent my youth
Playing around the garden
Hide and seek
In the mansion of our vila
Now I sit
Outside the gate
Upon the road
With a bottle of tequila
Watching flowers grow
Beneath the shade of trees
Seeing my memories
Of my childhood Shangri-la
This is for a dVerse prompt: Choose one of the artworks in this post, and compose a poem in any form of your choosing.
I chose the image above, “House with a Bay Window in the Garden”. I hope you enjoy.😊
An interesting take on the painting. Thanks for joining in!

Stew, this sounds very similar to my youth growing up in rural Dorset, UK, once enjoying summer houses and then, a little older, enjoying alcohol!

There is a lot untold in this poem, where the bottle of tequila is just a hint.

The beauty of youth, viewed through an age we could hardly imagine. Such a bitter/sweet poem.

One never knows what the future will bring, one rarely bothers to look closely during childhood. There may be a lesson there. Thanks for reading. 😊

Stew you capture that bittersweet contrast between the innocent joy of childhood and the somber, reflective reality of growing older🩷
